This IS The Place Where I Share Recipes, Review And Giveaway Food And Let You Know How Much I love Food. I am a cook at a local hospital and I believe nearly everything we do has to do with food. I will take pictures of food, write articles and relate them to food in some way. Remember, whatever you do, you need to eat. This Bog is affiliated with Daddy Waddy Weeviews, but is run by me, Kurt Borkowski. I will add a picture in the next few weeks. .

Review of Five finger tees shirt
I received a shirt from Five finger tees the other day.The shipping was quick and easy as well as the ordering process.I ordered a special logo for a birthday present so I can't tell you just what one or I'll ruin the surprise. However after seeing the quality of stitching and the design I wish I had ordered it for myself.
The shirt is made from 90% cotton and 10% polyester manufactured by Gildan a well known name in the tee shirt business. The web site was very well put together and has many options to choose from, such as funny, movie, inspirational and more.Great site for bulk purchases for groups or organizations.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!!
TIP OF THE DAY
What Luck!
Today is St. Patrick's Day and luckily for us, the traditional St. Patrick's Day meal of corned beef and cabbage is already full of nutritious foods we should eat all year.
- One cup of raw chopped cabbage offers a mere 22 calories and provides 2.2 grams of fiber. It is an excellent source of vitamin C and provides folate, vitamin B6, phytonutrients, lutein and zeaxanthin.
- Carrots are also low in calories and packed with nutritional benefits: ½ cup of grated carrot has 23 calories, provides 1.5 grams of fiber, is an excellent source of vitamin A in the form of beta carotene, and also contains phytonutrients associated with eye health, such as lutein and zeaxanthin.
- Red potatoes are fat-free, cholesterol-free, sodium-free, and an excellent source of vitamin C. Make sure to eat the skins! Potato skins are fiber-rich, about 2 grams per ounce and also contain B vitamins, vitamin C, iron, calcium, potassium and other nutrients.
Now for the star of our St. Patrick's Day meal, the corned beef. It is high in sodium so fill your plate with vegetables and enjoy the corned beef in moderation. When shopping for corned beef, choose the one with the least amount of fat and lowest sodium and trim all visible fat before cooking.
Arm yourself with the information you need to read the nutrition facts panel before you shop for your corned beef by visiting our Nutrition Facts Panel page, and learn more about healthy eating with tips during National Nutrition Month.

Get the Facts
Making the right food and nutrition choices is a necessary part of daily life—but finding the best and most accurate information can be confusing. However, it is possible to develop a plan for healthy eating, and plans that emphasize a balance of foods, like those based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, can promote positive lifestyle changes. An understanding of what is in the food we eat is essential for allowing all foods to fit into an eating plan—as long as they are consumed in moderation and combined with regular physical activity.
Research studies and breaking news about food and nutrition appear in headlines almost every day. With so many changes, it can be difficult to tell which recommendations are based on strong scientific evidence, and which are simply marketing materials. Registered dietitians are food and nutrition experts, translating the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. Various tools are available to help meet the goal of a healthy weight. Among these is the Body Mass Index (BMI), which can be used as a screening tool to identify potential health problems.
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans are issued and updated every five years by the US government and provide authoritative advice about how good dietary habits can promote health and reduce risk for major chronic diseases. The guidelines are jointly published by the USDA and the Department of Health and Human Services and are developed with the substantial input of registered dietitians.
What is MyPlate?
MyPlate and www.choosemyplate.gov are designed to help individuals follow the key recommendations in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. MyPlate provides practical information to individuals, health professionals, nutrition educators, and the food industry to help consumers build healthier diets with resources and tools for dietary assessment, nutrition education, and other user-friendly nutrition information. The online resources and tools can empower people to make healthier food choices for themselves, their families, and their children.
Food Labels
The food label is a key tool for locating and evaluating the nutritional content of the foods and beverages you purchase. Food labels provide you with:
- Nutrition information about almost every packaged or processed food you'll find in a grocery store.
- A distinctive, easy-to-read Nutrition Facts Panel that enables you to quickly find the information you need to make healthful food choices.
- Information on the amount per serving of saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sodium and other nutrients of major health concern.
- Nutrient reference values, expressed as % Daily Values, which help you see how a specific food fits into your overall daily diet.
- Uniform definitions for terms that describe a food's nutrient content—such as "light," "low-fat" and "high-fiber"—to ensure that such terms mean the same for any product on which they appear.
- Standardized serving sizes that make nutritional comparisons of similar products easier.
